Ensuring access to emergency care in hospitals has never been more challenging

Emergency rooms around the world are struggling under the pressure of increasing demand from consumers and the increasing complexity of care.

ASE Health has summarised the learnings from the UK Accident & Emergency 4 hour waiting target and highlighted the great progress being made in Australia with the National Emergency Access Target.

ASE has considered the challenges, outlined the various methods for developing solutions and described examples of successes and lessons learned. We consider the wider system changes required for controlling demand in the Emergency Department.
